An adventure of a lifetime!
Imagine flying for miles over prisitne coastline at 10 feet with a group of pilots. Recently a group of 6 pilots logged more than 733 miles in an eight day cross country trip down around Manzanillo and Zihuatanejo which is south of Puerta Vallarta. This was an incredible accomplishment. They logged over 50 hours of flight time which is what many pilots might fly in one year. Only one pilot had engine problems on just one day of the trip. Small 2 stroke engines really are becomming more and more dependable.
The beach at Yelapa
Yelapa is one of my favorite destinations to fly to. It is located in the southern end of Banderas Bay in Puerta Vallarta. Although it is not an island, it might as well be because access is only by boat or powered paraglider. A chase boat is necessary so that retrieval is possible if one has an engine out. Landing in the water is probably a better choice than ditching it in a dense and steep jungle that terminates at the waters edge.
North West Baja
This coastline is just south of El Mirador (The Lookout) and just north of Ensenada Bay in norther Baja. Unless you are a seasoned pilot that knows your engine and the micro climates extremely well, flying over this kind of coastline is best not to do. However, when conditoins are southwest, one can fly this area without the fear of landing in the lee of ridge where turbulent air is usually present.
